About Ankur Gulati

Dr Ankur Gulati is a consultant cardiologist and Coronary Interventionist at Welbeck. His NHS practice is based at St Thomas’ and Queen Elizabeth Hospitals.

He specialises in the management of patients with coronary artery disease and associated risk factors (e.g. high blood pressure and cholesterol). However, Dr Gulati has also gained specialist credentials in cardiac MRI, cardiac CT, heart failure, cardiomyopathy and general medicine through multiple fellowships, his national training programme, and research. As a result, he is ideally positioned to care for patients with all types of cardiac and medical symptoms.

Dr Gulati qualified in medicine with a 1st class degree and consecutive yearly scholarships from St John’s College, Cambridge University. After graduating, he was awarded practically all his training posts at highly regarded university teaching hospitals, including Addenbrooke’s (Cambridge), Queen’s Medical Centre (Nottingham), Guy’s, University College, Royal London, and Barts Heart Centre.

He undertook his formal research at The Royal Brompton Hospital and received an MD from Cambridge University for his thesis examining the role of cardiac MRI in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy. In recognition of his work, he was presented with the International Young Investigator of the Year Award by the Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance. Dr Gulati continues to be active in research, as a co-investigator on ongoing coronary/MRI studies and reviewer for several international cardiology journals.

Prior to taking up his consultant position, he was appointed ‘Clinical Champion’ at the Barts Cardiovascular Devices Hub. Through this role he gained expertise in medical device development, engaging with industry and academics to steer the translational journey of novel medical technologies. He utilises this experience to ensure that patients under his care benefit from the latest validated developments in healthcare.

Yes. You can arrange an appointment for a family member, or someone you care for, just let us know when you get in touch. We’ll need their details and consent to complete the booking, unless you're their legal guardian or have power of attorney.

Your first consultation includes a detailed discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle factors, followed by a thorough examination. It’s helpful if you can bring the results of any previous investigations with you, as well as a list of your current medications.
