
About Robin Chung
Dr Robin Chung is a friendly and approachable consultant cardiologist with broad general cardiology experience and a sub-specialty expertise in cardiac imaging, including CT coronary angiography and advanced echocardiography. He has internationally accredited expertise in cardio-oncology (or heart problems in cancer patients before, during, and after, cancer treatment).
Dr Chung studied computer engineering and medicine at Berkeley, Warwick Cambridge and University College London. He completed general medical training in the London Northwest Thames deanery as an acclaimed academic foundation programme trainee, before continuing as one of only two NIHR cardiology academic clinical fellows in London in his cohort year.
Robin was trained personally in transthoracic echocardiography by the legendary Dr Derek G Gibson in his eponymous echocardiography department at the Royal Brompton Hospital and in advanced echocardiography at Barts Heart Centre. He completed his clinical cardiology training in the London North Central Thames deanery across the Royal Free, University College London, Barts and the Royal London hospitals.
Dr Chung was involved in the establishment of cardio-oncology services at University College London and Barts Heart Centre - one of the largest in the UK – and continues this network service for the Whittington Hospital area cancer patients.
Dr Chung is a British Heart Foundation (BHF) ambassador who enjoys medical education. He has further clinical trials expertise in the design, recruitment, and ethics and regulatory submission for cardio-oncology as well as rare orphan disease studies in adults and children as the research chair for the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association UK across seven international multi-centre randomised clinical trials.
Dr Chung is a consultant Cardiologist / cardio - oncologist with an NHS base at the Whittington NHS trust and honorary consultant at Barts Heart Centre and University College London Hospitals
Dr Chung is an honorary clinical associate professor at University College London (UCL) medical school. He has 50 research publications and 30 co-authored journal papers. He was a former associate editor at Open Heart and was the first UK engineer to work for Shazam, the global standard in music recognition on iPhone and android phones. He is available for his clinical trials expertise and corporate VC due diligence.
