What is CaRi-Heart analysis?
Inflammation plays a major role in the development of coronary artery disease and plaque rupture, which can lead to heart attacks. Unfortunately, it cannot be detected with standard routine tests. If left unnoticed, it may result in blocked arteries and serious complications.
CaRi-Heart is a cutting-edge imaging analysis that can reveal inflammation in the coronary arteries – the blood vessels that supply the heart. This innovative technology helps predict the future risk of a heart attack 8 years in advance, allowing you to take action early.
This test may be recommended if you:
have a personal or family history of heart disease
have risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol
have already been diagnosed with coronary artery disease
At Welbeck, our cardiologists use CaRi-Heart to provide personalised heart health management in our Imaging & Diagnostics centre.
More information
The test is quick and straightforward, taking no more than 15 to 20 minutes. It’s carried out after a CT coronary angiogram has been performed.
The CaRi-Heart software analyses the CT images of your coronary arteries.
It measures inflammation and highlights areas of concern.
Results are provided within 1 to 2 working days.
Your cardiologist will review the findings and create a tailored prevention or management plan.
CaRi-Heart is extremely safe because it involves no additional scanning or radiation beyond your CT coronary angiogram. It analyses your CT coronary angiogram to reveal additional information not visible on the routine scan.
On receiving the CaRi-Heart report, your consultant will explain your results clearly and support you in the next steps.
No special preparation is required for the CaRi-Heart analysis itself. If you’re undergoing a CT coronary angiogram beforehand, you may be advised to avoid caffeine and certain medicines. Your consultant will give you clear instructions in advance.
There’s no recovery period for CaRi-Heart. You can continue your day as normal.
Your results will be ready in 1 to 2 days. Based on your personalised report, your cardiologist may recommend:
lifestyle changes, such as diet or exercise adjustments
medicines to lower cholesterol, blood pressure, or reduce inflammation
ongoing monitoring to track improvements over time
