About Paris Tekkis

Professor Paris Tekkis is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon and founding member of Welbeck Digestive Health. He specialises in minimally invasive and advanced colon and rectal cancer surgery.

Professor Tekkis is a Professor of Colorectal Surgery at Imperial College London and academic lead at The Royal Marsden Hospital and Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. He is internationally respected for his work in advanced rectal/anal cancer and surgery for inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease).

Professor Paris Tekkis (BMed.Sci., BM BS, MD, FRCS), qualified from Nottingham University in 1994. His postgraduate training was at St Mark’s Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital in London and at the Cleveland Clinic, USA. He was appointed as Clinical Senior Lecturer and Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at St Mary’s Hospital and Imperial College in 2004. He was promoted to Reader in Surgery and appointed at The Royal Marsden in 2008, and promoted to Professor of Colorectal Surgery in 2011.

He is the Chairman of the ‘Beyond TME (total mesorectal excision) Collaborative’ responsible for the publication of International Guidelines for the multidisciplinary management of advanced rectal cancer. He is also known for the development of The UK National Bowel Cancer Audit and has supervised over 35 MD /PhD studentships.
