What is an ultrasound scan, and what is it used for?
An ultrasound scan is a non-invasive, low-risk diagnostic and treatment technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of the body’s internal tissues.
You may need to have an ultrasound scan for many reasons, including to identify and diagnose a wide range of conditions, to monitor pregnancy, and as part of certain procedures, such as injections and biopsies.
