- Research highlights
Her research into methods to improve the accuracy of echocardiography and myocardial perfusion cardiac MRI scanning has received both national and international awards for her work so far, including:
Society of Cardiac MRI
British Society of Cardiac MRI
British Hypertension Society
National Heart and Lung Institute
President’s Medal for Cardiology at the Royal Society of Medicine.
Her current research interests include optimising imaging acquisition and analysis methods for identifying patients at risk of developing heart failure; using MRI-based scar imaging to improve ablation in patients with ventricular arrhythmias; and understanding and treating patients with cardiac problems arising from cancer therapies.
She has also completed a study commissioned by the Medicines and Health Regulatory Authority to assess the risk of cardiotoxicity related to metal-on-metal hip implants.
Professor Manisty was recently part of a study, published by the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, that found that for first-time marathon runners, training and completion of the marathon resulted in reductions in blood pressure and aortic stiffening in healthy participants that were equivalent to a four-year reduction in vascular age.

We aim to offer appointments as quickly as possible, and many services have same-day or next-day availability. Waiting times vary depending on the appointment type, specialty, and consultant availability, but our team will always offer the earliest suitable appointment.
Yes. You can arrange an appointment for a family member, or someone you care for, just let us know when you get in touch. We’ll need their details and consent to complete the booking, unless you're their legal guardian or have power of attorney.
Your first consultation includes a detailed discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle factors, followed by a thorough examination. It’s helpful if you can bring the results of any previous investigations with you, as well as a list of your current medications. Come with a comfortably full bladder so you can provide a urine sample if requested.
