About Arun Rajendran

Dr Arun Rajendran is a leading Consultant Gastroenterologist with over a decade of experience in managing and treating a wide range of digestive conditions. He specialises in bowel polyps,GMC inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), reflux, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Dr Rajendran consults privately offering both outpatient care and advanced endoscopy services.

After graduating in 2001, Dr Rajendran completed his postgraduate training in gastroenterology in North West London. He further honed his skills during a three-year postgraduate research and teaching fellowship at St Marks Hospital, one of the world’s leading centres for bowel disease. In 2020, he earned a research MD from Kings College London, where he focused on the learning curve of colonoscopic polypectomy, a critical procedure for preventing colorectal cancer. His research has been widely recognised, earning him prestigious awards, including the NIHR CLAHRC Support Award, the ASGE Cook Medical Marsha Dreyer Award, and the BSG Best Teaching Abstract Award.

Dr Rajendran is deeply committed to research and education. He is a Senior Clinical Teacher at Imperial College London and an Honorary Senior Clinical Teacher at Brunel Medical School. He actively contributes to international journals as a peer reviewer and participates in clinical trials to advance treatment in his field. He regularly contributes at national and international conferences, discussing topics like cancer screening, endoscopy training, and IBD management.

Appointed in 2018 as a full-time consultant in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine at Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Dr Rajendran currently leads endoscopy training at the Trust.

Dr Rajendran is fluent in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada, ensuring effective communication with a diverse patient base.
