Bespoke Weight Management Support
Led by world‑renowned gastroenterology and endocrinology specialists, our tailored weight management service delivers a truly personalised care experience.
Our weight management service is a consultant-led programme, matching you with a specialist in gastroenterology or endocrinology to guide your care throughout. Your consultant oversees a tailored pathway combining advanced diagnostics, specialist assessment, and personalised treatment planning to support safe, effective, and sustainable weight management.
Care is delivered through an integrated, multidisciplinary pathway. Where appropriate, this may include GLP-1 therapy alongside psychological support, specialist dietetic input, and personalised lifestyle strategies—providing a clinically grounded framework for long-term results.
This service is designed for individuals seeking personalised, evidence-based support, including those who:
are considering or currently using GLP-1 medication, including support with initiation, optimisation, or discontinuation
are preparing for bariatric surgery
have not achieved lasting results with previous approaches and would benefit from structured medical supervision
have complex needs such as metabolic disease, fatty liver, thyroid conditions, diabetes risk, or cardiovascular risk
All assessments and follow-up take place within Welbeck’s Digestive Health & Endocrinology centre. We work closely with colleagues across Welbeck to coordinate onward care where needed, ensuring continuity and access to specialist expertise.
Arrange a triage call to discuss your needs—same-day and next-day appointments are often available.
More information
Before booking, our team will arrange a brief triage call to understand your goals, medical history, previous weight management approaches, current conditions, and medications. This ensures you're matched with the most appropriate consultant for your needs.
Your initial consultation includes a comprehensive clinical review, baseline measurements, and same-day diagnostics.
Tests include:
a full blood panel
abdominal and gallbladder ultrasound
thyroid ultrasound
multiparametric MRI with cT1 scoring (optional)
Multiparametric MRI provides a non-invasive assessment of body composition and liver health, including fat and iron content, supporting more precise and individualised treatment planning.
Following your assessment, your case is reviewed within a multidisciplinary team to inform a tailored management plan. This is discussed with you at a follow-up consultation, with ongoing care led by your consultant.
Your treatment plan may include:
GLP-1 therapy, where clinically appropriate
consultant-led monitoring and longitudinal care
dietetic support via a trusted partner (by referral)
psychological support via a trusted partner (by referral)
onward referral for specialist care where required

By choosing Welbeck, you’ll receive care that goes beyond diagnostics and treatment. Our consultants can provide support throughout your weight management journey, and beyond, to ensure that when you do leave their care, you do so in the best possible health.

If you’re prescribed a GLP-1, your consultant will ensure you’re monitored for side effects in line with guidelines for the duration of your treatment. Working together with trusted partners, they provide the best-in-class care to manage any side effects and support your overall wellbeing.
If you choose, your consultant can also provide an ongoing service, which includes quarterly review appointments with your consultant, nurse follow-ups, blood monitoring, medication management, and pharmacy support.
Pricing for an initial consultation and diagnostic package starts at £2,000.
Ongoing costs vary depending on the care recommended as per the results of your initial assessment and diagnostic tests.

Frequently asked questions
You can self-refer directly; no GP referral is needed. Simply get in touch to arrange a triage call, and our team will guide you through the next steps.
The triage call is a brief initial conversation with our team before your first consultation is booked. You'll be asked about your weight management goals, medical history, any relevant conditions, previous weight loss attempts, and current medications. This helps us match you with the most appropriate consultant for your needs — either a gastroenterologist or an endocrinologist.
This service is not currently covered by health insurers and is available to self-paying patients only. Once your treatment plan has been confirmed, our team can talk you through the costs.
GLP-1 therapy may be recommended as part of your treatment plan where clinically appropriate. At Welbeck, all prescribing is done by our specialist consultants, with ongoing monitoring and medication management.
Our weight management service is open to anyone who would benefit from specialist‑led support, and our team will help ensure you are matched with the most appropriate consultant based on your individual needs.
For clinical safety reasons, the service is not suitable for individuals with:
a history of medullary thyroid carcinoma
multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (MEN2)
type 1 diabetes
severe gastrointestinal disorders (such as gastroparesis)
pancreatitis (past or current)
significant mental‑health–related conditions where specialist care is required
pregnancy (current)
age over 80
If any of these apply to you, our team will advise on alternative pathways or specialist support that may better meet your needs.
