Allergy symptoms can affect many parts of a child’s daily life, from sleep and concentration to confidence at school, sports, and social events. Our allergy specialists focus on building a clear understanding of your child’s symptoms, identifying possible triggers, and creating a plan that feels practical and manageable. Care is delivered in calm, supportive environments designed around children and families. Where needed, we work closely with other paediatric specialists to ensure your child receives joined-up care.

Children and young people can experience allergies in many different ways, from mild but persistent symptoms to more complex allergic problems. Our consultants provide specialist care for the full spectrum of allergy conditions.
Your child’s care begins with a detailed consultation, including a full history of symptoms, triggers, and patterns over time. If required, all tests and treatments take place under one roof for maximum convenience and minimal disruption to you and your child’s routine.

Blood and pathology tests are a vital part of detecting, diagnosing, and treating conditions.

An MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan uses a magnetic field and radio waves to take images of the inside of your body.

An X-ray is a type of imaging test that uses radiation to produce images of the body.

At Welbeck, all imaging and diagnostics, including X-ray, MRI, and ultrasound, take place on-site. With same-day or next-day appointments often available, we ensure you receive an accurate diagnosis without delay and receive the treatment you need as quickly as possible.

At Welbeck, we’re committed to ensuring the referral process is smooth and efficient. We welcome referrals from GPs and other healthcare professionals and aim to offer same-day or next-day appointments where possible.

To help the specialist assess your child fully, it’s helpful to bring:
a list of your child’s current medications, including creams and antihistamines
any previous allergy test results
photos of any skin symptoms over time, if they fluctuate or only appear at certain times
details of possible triggers (foods, products, animals, environmental exposures)
a record of past reactions, flare patterns, or known allergies
a favourite toy, book, or snack to help your child feel comfortable
If your child uses specific creams or skincare products, bringing them can also be useful.
Our specialists are experienced in working with children and will ensure the appointment is child‑friendly.
A typical consultation includes:
a conversation about symptoms, triggers, and any family history
a gentle examination
discussion about your child’s routine and any previous treatments
reviewing any photos or prior test results
planning further tests if needed (such as skin prick tests, patch tests, blood tests)
creating an individualised treatment plan
Your child can sit on your lap during the examination if it helps them feel at ease.
