Caitlin's Symptoms

I have a slipped disc in the base of my back and was in a lot of pain. I knew that to get any treatment, I would have to get another MRI, as it had been over a year since my last flare-up. I saw Dr Dan Plev for the initial consultation, and he recommended an MRI at Welbeck.

The Environment and Staff

The environment was clean and clinical, but not cold – it was stylish and sleek! The staff were 10/10! Louise, the radiologist, was just wonderful. She was so reassuring and really knew her stuff. She talked me through the entire process and made sure I felt comfortable.

Test Process

I went into a nice modern changing room and was given a gown to change into, and a locker to put my things in. Louise then came to collect me to take me to the MRI machine.

Before I got in the machine, she told me exactly what to expect, how long it would take and asked if I had any questions. She then got me in place, along with some other staff and made sure I was comfortable. They gave me headphones with music which they could also speak to me through. They gave me a panic button too.

They checked in throughout the MRI to tell me how long I had left and to reassure me I was doing well. Once complete, Louise took me back to the changing rooms and told me when I would receive my results.

Something that stood out to me was how quickly the team managed to fit me in and how wonderful their patient manner was. An MRI is never a particularly enjoyable test but they did everything within their power to put me at ease.

The team confirmed my slip disc within days which allowed me to seek treatment quickly before my wedding.
