About Erlick Pereira

Mr Pereira undertakes all aspects of neurosurgery, with a particular focus on deep brain stimulation (DBS), spinal cord stimulation (SCS), intrathecal pumps, hydrocephalus, Chiari malformations, syrinx, and spine surgeries for neck, back and limb pain, as well as sciatica.

He has established three DBS services (one NHS, two private) in London using a minimally invasive, asleep-for-comfort, quick two-hour technique. He sees patients from all over the world with movement disorders, chronic pain, cancer pain, and spinal injuries. He takes a holistic approach to treatment, involving physiotherapy, psychotherapy, and medical management before considering minimally invasive injections or microsurgical procedures.

Mr Pereira has been a Consultant Neurosurgeon since 2016. He studied Natural Sciences at Trinity College, Cambridge University, and went on to study Medicine at Somerville College, Oxford University. He completed his neurosurgical training in Oxford, including sub-specialty training in functional neurosurgery under Professor Tipu Aziz, followed by advanced training in orthopaedic complex spinal surgery at Guy’s, St Thomas’, and Evelina Hospitals.

He has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons since 2013 and was awarded the title of Hunterian Professor in 2014. He is currently a Professor of Neurosurgery at City St George’s, University of London. Mr Pereira has authored around 200 research papers, two books, and 40 textbook chapters, including the basal ganglia and spinal cord chapters of Gray’s Anatomy and Gray’s Surgical Anatomy.

Yes. You can arrange an appointment for a family member, or someone you care for, just let us know when you get in touch. We’ll need their details and consent to complete the booking, unless you're their legal guardian or have power of attorney.

Your first consultation includes a detailed discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle factors, followed by a thorough examination. It’s helpful if you can bring the results of any previous investigations with you, as well as a list of your current medications. Come with a comfortably full bladder so you can provide a urine sample if requested.
