About Vasileios Kouranos
Dr Vasileios Kouranos is a consultant respiratory physician who is experienced in managing all respiratory conditions with specialist expertise in interstitial lung disease and sarcoidosis.
He works as an NHS consultant in the Royal Brompton Hospital, a highly specialised heart and lung hospital considered as the National centre of excellence for patients with lung disease in the UK.
Dr Vasileios Kouranos is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London. He is an active research investigator in clinical trials in the field of interstitial lung disease and sarcoidosis. Dr Kouranos continues to be highly active in clinical research focusing on the risk stratification and outcome of interstitial lung disease and sarcoidosis. He is supervising MSc and PhD students and publishing his research in the most prestigious medical journals.
He has completed his PhD on the role of cardiac MRI in screening general sarcoidosis population for cardiac involvement. He has developed the Cardiac Sarcoidosis Registry at the Royal Brompton hospital which is currently the largest in the world.
