
About Shabbir Moochhala
Dr Shabbir Moochhala is a Consultant Nephrologist at the Royal Free Hospital in London. He is an expert in treating all types of kidney disease and pathology including acute kidney injury, hypertension, chronic kidney disease, transplantation, and dialysis. He is also an accredited General Physician, with a large breadth of knowledge on common and rare problems. He aims to address all concerns of his patients and isn't restricted to kidney-based concerns.
Dr Moochhala began his medical education in Edinburgh, where he graduated with a First Class honours degree in physiology in addition to his medical degrees. He was then awarded a PhD for his research into rare kidney stone disease in Newcastle upon Tyne. Since then, he has maintained his general and specialist experience, making him an expert in both common disorders and rare renal diseases. His patients say that he has an excellent bedside manner, with a friendly approach.
Dr Moochhala contributes at international level to kidney research and education. He is Principal Investigator for four international clinical trials and is national chair of Rare Disease Groups and an NHS Rare Disease Collaborative Network. He teaches junior doctors and medical students and is a high-profile international lecturer on kidney stone disease and research.
