About Sarah Elkin

Dr Sarah Elkin is an experienced respiratory consultant here at Welbeck Lung Health, who deals with a broad range of respiratory conditions. In addition to her work at Welbeck she works closely with GPs supporting respiratory pathway development from early diagnosis to advanced care. She is also clinical lead of the post COVID assessment clinics in North West London. She is an honorary senior lecturer at Imperial College London and Co-Clinical Director for the London Respiratory Clinical Network.

After studying medicine at the Middlesex Hospital London (UCL) Dr Sarah Elkin went on to specialise in respiratory medicine. She has a doctorate from research performed at the Royal Brompton Hospital and Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. She has been a consultant for over 11 years, and more recently she has become consultant lead for the local community cardio-respiratory service and is spending more time in community settings working more closely with GPs.

Her clinical interests include breathlessness and cough, common respiratory conditions, conditions related to smoking such as chronic obstructive and pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung cancer, smoking cessation, pulmonary rehabilitation, asthma chest infections, pneumonia, lung function testing and bronchoscopy.

Your first consultation includes a detailed discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle factors, followed by a thorough examination. It’s helpful if you can bring the results of any previous investigations with you, as well as a list of your current medications. Come with a comfortably full bladder so you can provide a urine sample if requested.
