About Chris Wadsworth
Dr Chris Wadsworth is a consultant gastroenterologist at Welbeck, specialising in endoscopy and hepatobiliary medicine. He is the clinical director of specialist medicine at Hammersmith Hospital, London; and honorary senior lecturer at Imperial College London.
Dr Wadsworth was awarded a PhD by Imperial College London, in 2013, for his research into improved diagnosis of bile duct and pancreatic disease. He then completed a senior fellowship in advanced therapeutic endoscopy.
His current research focuses on improving national standards in complex endoscopy and the challenge of cholangiocarcinoma diagnosis and a multimodality approach to improve diagnosis.
“My ambition is that Welbeck becomes the first choice for informed patients undergoing endoscopy. We’ll achieve this through a combination of our first-class clinical team, an exceptional, premium patient experience and the best clinical outcomes in the sector.”
Following his graduation in 2001, Dr Wadsworth went on to complete his specialist training, which included posts at St Mary’s, Hammersmith and St Mark’s hospitals. He undertook a short travelling fellowship at the Liver Unit at the Mayo Clinic, Minnesota. He then completed a year-long senior fellowship in advanced endoscopy in Liverpool. Having taken up his consultant position in 2014, Dr Wadsworth has become lead clinician for endoscopy at Hammersmith Hospital, and clinical director of specialist medicine.

Yes. You can arrange an appointment for a family member, or someone you care for, just let us know when you get in touch. We’ll need their details and consent to complete the booking, unless you're their legal guardian or have power of attorney.
Your first consultation includes a detailed discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle factors, followed by a thorough examination. It’s helpful if you can bring the results of any previous investigations with you, as well as a list of your current medications. Come with a comfortably full bladder so you can provide a urine sample if requested.
