About Amit Patel

Alongside his work at Welbeck, Dr Patel is a consultant at King’s College Hospital where he is clinical lead for Respiratory Medicine. Dr Patel also practices at Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospital and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at King’s College London. He is the training programme directory for Respiratory medicine in the South Thames region and is the regional specialty advisor to the Royal College of Physicians.

Dr Patel has been working full time Consultant Respiratory Physician at King’s College Hospital in London where he specialises in all aspects of Respiratory Medicine. This includes the investigation and management of cough, COPD, asthma, pneumonia, lung cancer, pleural disease, respiratory failure, sleep apnoea, sarcoidosis, interstitial lung disease, bronchiectasis and breathlessness of unknown cause. Dr Patel lectures on areas of Respiratory medicine and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and has postgraduate qualifications in education.

Dr Patel (MD, FRCP, AHEA) graduated from King’s College London in 2001. He became a member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2005. He undertook postgraduate training in Respiratory and General (Internal) Medicine in London at some of the country’s leading hospitals including King’s College Hospital, St Thomas’s Hospital and the Royal Brompton Hospital. During his higher specialist training he went on to study for a MD in the Division of Asthma, Allergy and Lung Biology within King’s College London.
